Roaming makes life easy, but it relies on highly complex technologies that ensure you get the best service and the best rates all in a matter of seconds.
Mediaan developed a software solution for a major telecommunications provider that intelligently directs network traffic to specific operators.
The software takes a wide range of factors into account, including network coverage and availability, discount negotiations, volume commitments and pricing models. A complex algorithm calculates and forecasts the optimal data steering targets and selects the best option for you automatically the next time you start roaming.

The application also provides reports on deal performance, comparing the forecasted targets with the actual results from the past several months. The intelligence gained from this gap analysis is used to fine-tune forecasts for the coming months. That makes it possible for business users to negotiate better deals with third party operators, improving the overall customer experience.
Mediaan collaborated with stakeholders in 8 different countries to provide the technology services for this project, including the requirement analysis, functional and technical design, software development, automated testing, user acceptance testing support, deployment support and knowledge transfers.
The application was developed using Java and Oracle technologies with continuous integration and test automation practices. We were able to set up and scale the large amounts of data and resource-intensive computing tasks that were required for this project quite quickly using the Microsoft Azure Cloud in the development and testing environments.
We used an agile development approach that allowed maximal business flexibility during the development phase. At the same time, we ensured fixed cost and productivity controls making use of Functional Size Measurements. We were able to deliver on time and within budget using Nesma function point analysis (FPA) in the roadmap planning, contracting and monitoring processes. Despite the limited amount of requirement details available to us at the outset, the FPA methodology employed allowed us to deliver a solution with above-average market productivity and performance. Additional demands that were brought to us by the client over the course of the project, required us to temporarily scale up our scrum teams halfway through the project without negatively impacting our productivity or delivery dates. We were able to pull it off smoothly thanks to one of our skilled and flexible outsourcing partners.
